American Girl does it AGAIN!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
17 of 18 people found this review helpful.

I think American Girl is the BEST series about handling stuff properly for teens everywhere! Take this book for example. It has EVERYTHING from how to handle sticky situations with siblings to fun punch-out frames and stuff. It has really fun quizzes and silly pictures. This book has helped me and my younger sister become closer too. So, if you need a girl's guide to getting along, "Oh Brother, Oh Sister" is THE BEST book out there!

AWESOME!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book was helpful to me and my sibling. I learned some different ways to handle stuff. I borrowed it from a friend and she liked it too. The only issue with it was that it didn't cover everything that I thouht it would. It is still a good book though. I'd buy it.

Editorial Review:

This exploration of sibling relationships encourages girls to create stronger bonds with their brothers and sisters to help promote harmony at home. The book offers fun, practical advice on issues siblings face, including fighting, sharing, jealousy and respect - with tips, quizzes, and special tear-out extras to make family life easier.

Love it! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I enjoyed this girls' hair style. It gave me good ideas and the directions were easy to understand and follow. My 3-year daughter looks cute every day because of it. I also tried some of the styles on my 10-year-old niece. I recommend this book for moms and girls who need some help in getting creative with hair.

good for older teen girls 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a good book for an older girl who has experience using styling tools and products.
If you are getting it for a younger girl this is not the book for you.
Nice hair styles and nice styling ideas, but not for beginners.

Great Hair Ideas 5 out of 5 stars.

This book has great finishing ideas for young girls hair. I like that is shows styles and how to adapt it for different hair types. It shows different accessories and ways to change up that style. It is a fun book and helps me move past the normal way I have been doing my daughter's hair.

Editorial Review:

DK has created a fresh, fabulous series all about finding your own style and using the baubles girls adore as the perfect way to personalize a hairstyle or outfit. In Fabulous Hair and Super Style, the how-to book is raised to a new level of glamour and fun.

I wish she would write a book for boys too. 5 out of 5 stars.
70 of 70 people found this review helpful.

Excuse me, could I please tell you about a book I just read? Well, this is what Emilie Marie would say if she could walk off the pages and into your life. She also believes that the heart of all good manners is the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This is a little girl you would happily invite over for a tea party!

This is just an enchanting book for helping young ladies learn courtesy and kindness. Emilie Marie introduces herself in a most polite way, then explains how her Aunt Evelyn has been helping her practice her manners.

This book helps girls to learn how to meet people, shake hands, answer the phone, be a good friend and so much more. I loved the section on the heart of Good Manners. I must say we adults could learn a few things from this book. Emilie Marie learns how to write thank you notes and how to answer invitations to a party.

To give this book to a little girl is also a way to give the gift of happiness to all those who know her. Michal Sparks has illustrated the pink and yellow pages in the most charming way possible. The blue bow on the cover is just adorable.

Thank you for reading my review and I really hope you will buy this book for someone you know. I bought it for my nieces and they love it. I must say they are turning out to be polite little ladies themselves.

It was so nice to meet you.

Following in the footsteps of the popular Let’s Have a Tea Party! Book, Emilie Barnes introduces children to good manners. Fascinating facts explain why we follow certain rules, and helpful hints demonstrate courtesy in a child–friendly way.

Excellent Help 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book is very simple and straightforward. I read it before I gave it to my ten-year-old daughter and it really touches on points that I didn't think to touch on with my daughter. My daughter read it and she loved it. She said it made her realize that she is normal and that everything she's thinking and feeling is NORMAL. It didn't give her so much information that she was overwhelmed and confused either. It simply goes through what is happening to her body now and nothing more. Thanks for a great guide!

Good, but not as fun to read as others 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I purchased this book for my 12 year old daughter. It is an informative book with some monochromatic illustrations. I also purchased "Ready, Set, Grow". My daughter's opinion is that "Ready, Set, Grow" was an easier reading style, more colorful and more fun to read. I have to agree with her. I also enjoyed reading the other book more than this one.

I would recommend this book, but if you're only going to buy ONE book, I'd recommend "Ready, Set, Grow".

The start of hormonal changes can be troubling, even traumatic, for young girls. Now fully revised and updated with a parents’ guide, Period explains in a straightforward manner the changes all girls go through, answers common questions, and includes a brief description of a pelvic exam.

This book is amazing. I learned so much more about God's word and praying even after being a christian for eleven years.

When i frist got this book in my girls youth group I didn't think i was going to like it but I was wrong. Once i started reading it I liked it more and more as the further i got into it.

Althrough it takes a while to get through a chapeter you could spilt it up through the day.

This book got me to want to have a closer realationship with God and it got me to want to spend time with God every day (not just beacuse it's the right thing to do)This book made me want to look for other teen devotion books.

Editorial Review:

This young woman’s version of Elizabeth George’s bestselling book A Woman After God’s Own Heart® shares the intentions and blessings of God’s heart with teen girls. On this journey they discover His priorities for their lives—including prayer, submission, faithfulness, and joy—and how to embrace those priorities in daily life.

Elizabeth’s mentor style, the “Heart Response” messages of reflection, and the age–significant themes make this an excellent book for groups or for personal study. And best of all, girls will discover that God is a faithful, caring, and loving presence during this exciting and sometimes difficult time in their lives.

A Great Book for Girls & Women of All Ages 5 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I purchased this book several years ago, and just took it off my bookshelf to re-read it again - and I just have to say that I have truly enjoyed being reminded of the pearls of wisdom strewn throughout these pages!

"The Girls' Book of Wisdom" has 45 short chapters - each characterizing a different part of life. These chapters start off with a small but insightful discussion on that topic, followed by a bunch of really great quotes - some by famous people, some by not-so famous people, and quite a few from the teenagers of America. There really is a great variety of thoughts & perspectives - a great way to learn about thoughts/ideas you may not have considered.

Some of the chapters included are:
Self Awareness
Journal Keeping
Solitude
Loving Yourself
Confidence
Beauty
Health
Intuition
Leadership
Adversity
Optimism
Success
Happiness
Giving Back

And many, many more...

Overall, I found this book to be a fun, easy, insightful, inspirational read, and would highly recommend it to all those teenage girls out there (since much of the "pieces of wisdom" are geared to help you to grow into self-confident, self-sufficient women), as well as for women (there's a lot of great insights in there for us too - smile). It would be a great gift for someone to give their daughter &/or neice!

Great self esteem booster! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

What a wonderful book for my 9 year old daughter who is so often over shadowed by her big brother. The poster with little fun things to do was a big hit and by putting a sticker up on the poster after completing each "task" there was EVIDENCE of all the good she can do!

Uplifting and encouraging 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I always think that media of any sort that will boost the confidence of young girls at that age when they start dumbing themselves down is a great thing.

The encouraging message may not at first seem to do much more than deliver a spontaneous jolt of enthusiasm, but will sink in if read again and again over time. I think this can really be a Part, not the whole, of a supportive message from women to their daughters. We enjoyed this book and will be reading it again and again.

Editorial Review:

The YOU CAN DO IT! Kit shows girls that whatever they dream, they can do. The book is full of bold graphics and inspiring tips to help girls choose goals that are right for them and then go after them, one step at a time. A full-sized poster inspires girls to try new things, and five sheets of stickers reward their small successes. Girls will have fun tracking their progress in the YOU CAN DO IT! journal, and six bright smart cards will keep girls going and feeling strong - from start to finish!

A Great Partner to the Body Book... 5 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

While the Body Book talks about some of the physical changes girls will go through during adolescence, this one discusses beauty, inside and out. Ms. Rue and the girls from the Lily series ask questions and talk about what real beauty is (having God!) and how to bring out your beauty on the outside, too. But it's not makeup stuff: more along the lines of hair care, face care, manicures and pedicures, etc. It also includes spaces to write prayers to God. I recommend it for girls ages 8-14.

Awesome book!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This book is awesome. I love the Lily books and the companion books. I think it would be cool to use this information and start my own "junior models" club with my friends. I especially like the "gum in hair, peanut butter trick". This book is the best book in the Lily Library advice section other than The Body Book, The Best Bash Book, The It's MY Life Book and The Year 'Round Holidays book! I really like this book a lot. Buy it today and make your bible study time a lot of fun.

Editorial Review:

The Beauty Book offers cool information about everything from great hair to tattoos, plus much more. But most important, the message that God-confidence is beautiful is highlighted on each and every page.

A good devotional for pre-school girls 4 out of 5 stars.
11 of 12 people found this review helpful.

My 3-year-old daughter and I have enjoyed "God and Me!--Devotions for Girls Ages 2-5" for the past several months. Each day's reading covers a topic such as obedience, faith, sharing, etc., with a Scripture verse and a short story about children this age to illustrate it. Then we use the three discussion questions given to review and make our own personal application. This has often been so relevant to where she is at, and I find this feedback technique an excellent way to know if she really got the point. The facing page has a corresponding activity such as coloring, dot-to-dot, art project to do with mom, or a puzzle. It reinforces the lesson in a very hands-on way and is so good for this active and visual age. The book is spiral-bound which I found makes it easy for my daughter to do the activities. Though all the stories were taken from real-life scenarios, I felt some of them might have been better illustrations of the topics. I also wished for more discussion of the spiritual meanings of the story. But overall, it is written in an attention-getting way for this age group and introduces many new concepts for discussion. I appreciate the book's message that even a small child can learn to know and trust Jesus in every part of their life.

Editorial Review:

We are pleased to introduce "God and Me", a new series of three books from Legacy Press. From toddlers trhough pre-teens, girls need to know that God is the friend they can count on as they mature. This book teaches them to rely on Him as they learn more about the Bible and themselves. "God and Me" is part of Legacy's Criss Cross Collection, a series of books written specifically for Christian girls. PUBCOMMENTS: This is one in a series of three dynamic devotional journals for girls. Each book is geared toward the interests of that specific age group. Every devotion includes a memory verse, theme statement, contemporary reading, prayer, and questions with space to write answers.

Editorial Review:

For a vast majority of girls in this country, there comes an age at which self-esteem, self-assurance, equilibrium, and confidence fly out the window. Maybe it's hormones, maybe it's culture, or maybe it's just called growing up. Whatever the cause, it's real. Some girls turn, in their own fashion, to the same addictive solutions as their elders: compulsive behavior--either in the form of alcohol, drugs, food, or something equally destructive.

Casey, a veteran of the "first great revival" of the recovery movement, brings the art of living one day at a time to young girls in Be Who You Want to Be. "My intention in this book is similar to the intent in my other titles: I want to foster hope and willingness in young girls to believe they can make the changes needed so they feel like they belong and have purpose." From the book's opening note to parents (and other adults who care about young girls) through to the final word, the spirit of taking steps for themselves, no matter who they are or where they are in life, comes through in an accessible tone, providing girls the toolkits they need for handling life's ups and downs.
