Fancy Nancy Books are Wonderful 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I held a Fancy Nancy party for my granddaughter for her 6th birthday. We made a Fancy Nancy cake and the ultimate was when she opened all her Fancy Nancy books that she received as gifts. Just adorable writing and illustrations. Thanks.

Fabulous book for my 3 year old daughter! 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this book for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She absolutely loves this book! Great illustrations and a fun story. She will request this book to be read to her. I have to talk her into reading another book just so we aren't reading "Fancy Nancy" 7 days a week. This book is interactive in the sense that there is soooooo much detail to the illustrations that you can spend so much more time on the pictures than just the words. I would recommend this book to all little girls that have a good imagination or need to spark their imagination. I think this will be a good book for my daughter for years to come! I can't wait to see what other "Fancy Nancy" books are out there to add to our library!

Editorial Review:

Meet Nancy, who believes that more is ALWAYS better when it comes to being fancy. From the top of her tiara down to her sparkly studded shoes, Nancy is determined to teach her family a thing or two about being fancy.

How Nancy transforms her parents and little sister for one enchanted evening makes for a story that is funny and warm -- with or without the frills.

The Run Away 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Struggling through the ravages of World War II, Annemarie, her family, and her best friend Ellen wait in hiding until the Nazis retreat and let Denmark free once more. This wonderful story "Number the Stars" by Lois Lowry, is about friendship, tragedy, and, love. It also integrates a lot of useful life lessons, such as: being brave and deciding what to do wisely.
This story really captured my attention because it made me inquire as I read along. It also gave me a perfect image of what Denmark was like during the Nazi invasion.
I recommend this story to children in the fourth grade or higher because it has strong vocabulary words that are worth learning.

By Teddy (soon to be in grade 5)

Editorial Review:

The evacuation of Jews from Nazi-held Denmark is one of the great untold stories of World War II. On September 29, 1943, word got out in Denmark that Jews were to be detained and then sent to the death camps. Within hours the Danish resistance, population and police arranged a small flotilla to herd 7,000 Jews to Sweden. Lois Lowry fictionalizes a true-story account to bring this courageous tale to life. She brings the experience to life through the eyes of 10-year-old Annemarie Johannesen, whose family harbors her best friend, Ellen Rosen, on the eve of the round-up and helps smuggles Ellen's family out of the country. Number the Stars won the 1990 Newbery Medal.

Another cute Fancy Nancy story 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I was looking for some early reader books for my daughter, and was happy to find an I Can Read book featuring one of her favorite characters, Fancy Nancy. We love the original Fancy Nancy book, as well as the one about the Posh Puppy. This book, Fancy Nancy at the Museum, isn't as good as a story as the other ones we have read. It does fit the bill as an I Can Read book, and has, of course, the wonderful illustrations. I just didn't care for the story as much, and I don't think my daughter did either.

Fancy Nancy's bus trip- better title 2 out of 5 stars.

My daughter loves the Fancy Nancy books. I was disappointed with this one however. I expected a story about the artwork Nancy saw at the museum. Instead it is more about her getting sick on the bus trip. I would suggest skipping this one...

Fun book for early readers 5 out of 5 stars.

Our granddaughter loves this book and what is even better - she loves to read it to us! Nancy is adorable and she typical of a young girl.

Editorial Review:

Nancy's class is going on a trip to the museum. Even after a bumpy bus ride, Nancy finds a way to make the day extra-fancy!

Your young reader's vocabulary will glitter and glow with all the shine of Fancy Nancy's Favorite Fancy Words: From Accessories to Zany. The book cover's glitter is only a hint of all that shines inside this charmingly hilarious vocabulary book. The illustrations are as splendid as the words Nancy discovered to say the most ordinary things, raising them up to the level that will make you exclaim "Ooh la la!"

Even the vocabulary review at the end of the book is presented in a charming and fascinating manner. This book is guaranteed to be one of your child's favorite books!

Editorial Review:

Fancy Words Are Simply Fascinating!

From everyone's favorite fancy girl comes an alphabetical guide to enhancing vocabulary. Why say beautiful when there are fancy words like gorgeous and glamorous? Instead of hello, try bonjour, which is French and so much fancier. An umbrella will keep you dry, but a parasol will make you feel like a Hollywood movie star!

With this helpful A-to-Z guide, Fancy Nancy shows that making plain words into fancy ones is not only educational, it's fun!

Every bit as delectable as a box of candy! 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Fancy Nancy: Bonjour, Butterfly is filled with delicious details -- the story, the family relationships, and the magnificent illustrations that seem to have a life of their own, and characters that somehow spring to life with the economy of words necessary for a book for this age range.

I am a big Fancy Nancy fan, and seeing the reactions on a child's face while exploring this book makes it worth every single penny. Quite simply, this is a book not to be missed (much like the other books in the series!)

Editorial Review:

Nancy thinks butterflies are simply exquisite. And that is why she can't wait for her friend Bree's Butterfly Birthday. It's going to be the fanciest birthday party ever! But when Nancy finds out she can't go because her grandparents' fiftieth anniversary party is the same day, she is furious. (Mad is way too plain for how she feels.) Will Nancy be able to overcome her disappointment?

In this magical new story from bestselling duo Jane O'Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser, everybody's favorite fancy girl gets a surprise lesson in fancy from her grandparents. Looks like fancy runs in the family after all!

"Posh Puppy" -- what is a posh puppy? 5 out of 5 stars.
31 of 60 people found this review helpful.

Or Fancy Nancy goes to the animal shelter

...but not until she "tries out" a posh puppy. Writer Jane O'Connor and illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser have teamed again to create another winner in the Fancy Nancy series, a personal favorite. (Meaning: I buy a copy for my school library with library money and for me with my money and another copy for my great-niece!)

Fancy Nancy Clancy establishes herself in the first book, Fancy Nancy: 2009 Wall Calendar as the only member of her family who likes to dress "fancy." Nancy's neighbor Mrs. DeVine is also fancy, revealing the possible source of the posh-ity. (Pardon the use of the wall calendar to exemplify the first book. I used it because the little product insertion button did not produce a copy of the first book but instead a calendar based on the book. Go figure.)

At any rate this fascination with poshness is a wonderful opportunity for detailed artwork created by the talented Robin Preiss Glasser, who uses the most feminine art to represent Fancy Nancy. As a former ballet dancer, she injects so many little ballet items into the story. I delight in this story as much for the art as the story. Little girls feel the same way. It's a popular and beloved series.

In this story Fancy Nancy wants a papillon just like Mrs. DeVine's Jewel. She lets Nancy puppysit to test her out. What a disappointment. This is not a dog--it's a pampered little living doll. After Jewel excretes her stomach contents onto Nancy's dress, they take her back to Mrs. DeVine. Nancy's parents take a bedraggled, disappointed Nancy to the local King's Crown for dinner. Nancy is so sad she cannot even walk on her toes.

But Mom has a surprise. After dinner they go to the local animal shelter to get a real puppy. Of course, Nancy asks for a fancy dog--and gets one. This perfect dog satisfies everyone: curly hair for fancy, medium size and lively for everyone else. She is Frenchie, a LaSalle Spaniel and is the perfect "fancy" dog.

I rarely summarize the entire story, but decided this series is just right for such a move. Every message is perfect. Nothing fancy here--just supportive and thoughtful parents, a favorite older neighbor, diverse friends, and acceptance of people for who and what they are. And in this particular story, a visit to the animal shelter for adoption. What a grand series! Nothing fancy there except this delightful little girl!

Editorial Review:

Fancy Nancy is back! And when her family decides to get a dog, she's certain she can be fancier than ever. After all, a papillon—a small, delicate, fluffy dog—is the ultimate accessory. But her family wants a large, plain dog. How unglamorous!

With Fancy Nancy's trademark humor and warmth, Nancy discovers that real fanciness does not depend simply on appearance but more on a genuine joie de vivre, which is a fancy phrase for having lots of fun.

Marvelous (fancy for great) & hilarious (fancy for so funny)! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Really enjoyed this one, possibly the best of Nancy for us (--this is our third Nancy-book). I was surprised to find the Nancy stories so enjoyable. Was pleasantly surprised too to find this as a reader, and it has great story. My girls both like these (& this one), my non-fancy Tom-boy and my girl who likes to tell me that she likes girly stuff and boys stuff too! "I like Efry-ding!"

Fancy! 5 out of 5 stars.

My daughter LOVES Fancy Nancy. This book is one of her favorites. She thinks it is neat to learn a couple of fancy French words. She says them all the time. It also has a couple of good vocabulary words for her in English. That's what's so neat about the Fancy Nancy books. They have great vocabulary words and they always explain what they mean. The illustrations are WONDERFUL!

Do we love Nancy? Oui, Oui, Oui! 5 out of 5 stars.

She's charming...and you can't help but love her. How cute it was that she thought she had finally met a real French person...oh well, Paris, Texas isn't very close to the Riveria, but as the book says, she did make a new friend, and that's a good thing too.

Editorial Review:

There's a new boy in school, and he's from Paris. Nancy cannot believe her luck. But this Parisian may not be as fancy as Nancy expects!

It's your chance to help Nancy throw a Fancy Party! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Young readers can help Fancy Nancy throw the fanciest party ever by decorating the invitations, table, food and even the guests with the most divine collection of reusable stickers I've ever seen! And, unlike many sticker books, there seems to have been as much care taken with the wonderful backgrounds as there was with the stickers -- and the collection of stickers is generous and lovely.

There was obviously a gread deal of care that went into the design and writing of this book, and it is guaranteed to give the children in your circle hours and hours of delightful fun.

What better way is there to learn how to be an excellent hostess than by learning from the most elegant hostess of all-time -- Fancy Nancy, herself!

This is a super sticker book that girley-girls are certain to Love! Love!! Love!!

A wicked good time 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

As a member of the exclusive Pretty Committee clique, Kristen Gregory is popular (times 10), stylish, snobby, fake-rich and insecure. But she has a secret that even her PC friends don't know. Her biggest secret is also her salvation and a source of joy. Kristen belongs to the Witty Committee, a group of intellectually gifted students who assemble via their PCs and role play as the gifted person they admire most. With her Witty Committee friends, whose motto is "BOB - brains over beauty," Kristen is smart, loyal, proud and confident.

While her PC friends have taken flight for the summer, Kristen stays in Westchester, New York, where she lands a job tutoring Ripple Baxter to earn eighth-grade wardrobe money. Kristen begins tutoring Ripple in math, but the nine-year-old has other plans. Ripple is enthralled with PC Alpha Massie Block and connives to use Kristen to teach her how to become an OCD-Diva and Massie clone. Ripple is so obsessed with Massie that she insists everyone call her "Rassie."

After Kristen catches on to Ripple's scam and realizes her tutoring job with Ripple is more babysitting than teaching math, she is ready to call it quits --- until she meets Dune, Ripple's 13-year-old brother, whose blond hair is "the color of Baked Lays." Kristen turns the tables and uses Ripple to find out how to impress Dune, but things don't go according to plan. When Kristen shows up at the Gray Acres Skate Park (GAS) dressed like a skater, Dune and his skater friends are the opposite of impressed. Then there's Skye Hamilton, the eighth-grade Alpha and member of the Westchester Country Club, who is also crushing on Dune.

When Kristen is caught trespassing at the Westchester Country Club, she gets in trouble --- big trouble. And after Dune crushes back on Skye rather than on her, Kristen becomes depressed in a way that makes "Victoria Beckham look cheerful."

To resolve her "crush conflict" Kristen (aka Cleopatra) contacts her role-playing Witty Committee friends for advice. Can Einstein (aka Layne), Bill Gates (aka Danh), Oprah (aka Rachel) and Shakespeare (aka Aimee) come up with a solution? Here's a hint: Are Bill Gates and Oprah rich?

KRISTEN is the fourth of five novellas about members of the Pretty Committee. Each book is a light-hearted and fun-to-read page-turner with sound advice for teenage girls. The message from KRISTEN, is, in her own words, "hold on to your pride and own who you are." No wonder Kristen is not only a member of the Pretty Committee but also of the Witty Committee.

Editorial Review:

Kristen sets sail on the Love Boat... With the rest of the Pretty Committee scattered across the globe, Kristen is stuck in summer school at OCD, making good on her scholarship commitments. No sleepover horse camp, no Hawaiian spa, no Spanish vacation, not even a trip to Orlando. But when Kristen scores a job looking after hang-ten hottie Dune Baxter's eight-year-old sister, Ripple, Westchester suddenly doesn't seem so bad. It looks like Kristin is about to ride the wave of first love. . . .
