Over all this book is good. If you read a few stories at night they're scary. A few are outdated or drag on and on. It's a tie between if the first one is better than this one. I recomend it to anyone who is a fan of ghost stores.

bruce covilles book of ghosts 4 out of 5 stars.

Editorial Review:

In a collection of hair-raising tales guaranteed to haunt the imagination, a boy's ghost takes ever the body of a professional ball player, a monster-hunting librarian does some ghostbusting, and a sloppy boy is haunted by a ghost pig.

A Magical Reading choice 5 out of 5 stars.

Bruce Coville's books are extremely popular and well-written. Take, for instance MY TEACHER IS AN ALIEN and JEREMY THATCHER DRAGON HATCHER. This book is no exception. Bruce Coville's story in this book, THE METAMORPHASIS OF JUSTIN JONES, is about a lonely and abused boy who finds wings in Mr. Elive's Magic Shop. When he flies to escape his uncle, he finds an island where there is no hate, misery or pain. However, the old lady who makes the wings that lead to the island tells him that if he chooses to stay, he will never grow up. If he chooses to go back, he will face the same problems as before, but he will be able to, because no matter what happens he will remember that once--he flew. Does he stay or return? It's all in BRUCE COVILLE'S BOOK OF MAGIC II-an excellent book from an excellent author. (The story THE METAMORPHASIS OF JUSTIN JONES also appears in Bruce Coville's newest book ODDER THAN EVER, another 5 star book.)

A collection of spooky short fiction includes the stories of a pair of special dancing shoes that save the day, a boy and his dad who become custodians of a unicorn, and a family that tampers with powers it does not understand. Original."

Average for scary stories 3 out of 5 stars.

I liked the stories in this book(although they were not as scary as they were cracked up to be) only it made me mad when I found out that one of the stories (the main one) was a continuing story. All it gave was a small section about what had happened in the book before, and it did not go into great detail. Other than that, and the fact that the stories are not too scary, it was pretty good. I do not recommend buying it unless you have the first book.

Amazing...simply a masterpiece...Stunning science-fiction. 5 out of 5 stars.

The second-to-last book in a series of sci-fi/horror anthologies, it is a powerful book, very thought-provoking. Their is another chapter to "The Monsters of Morley Manor," and my personal favorites; "The Ragmore Beast," a terrifying tale of a giant beast stalking and hunting a put-down boy named Ricky; "Biology 205," about a dissection in a Biology class-you are in for a suprise in the end of this one!; "All in good time," a well-written story about a Jewish girl suddenly knowing the truth about her family's history, and at the same time trying to save her beloved Grandfather. Will she succeed? You will have to find out for yourself. "The Instrument" is about an instrument with music so pure, it blocks out everything. Is this good or bad...? And my final favorite, "The Packet," about a girl and a mysterious packet with a more mysterious creature inside it... Go on and read this wonderful collection of Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy with authors like Ray Bradbury, Bruce Coville, Neal Shusterman, William Sleator, and many more. Just read it with the lights on...and with a friend...

Editorial Review:

An entertaining new anthology of chilling tales includes Coville's ""The Coldest Touch,"" as well as other creepy stories by Neal Shusterman, Michael Markiewicz, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, and other noted authors.
